The beautiful Tribe, which is called “House of the Jungle” in the local language “kichwa”, will receive you in their community, and you will help them in their projects and take part in their daily life. With around 120’000 km² of territory, the Ecuadorian Amazon region or la selva contains more biodiversity per square kilometre than any other place on the globe. It’s also the homeland of more than 15 indigenous nationalities. The fact that Ecuador’s rainforest is the only portion of the Amazon located on the Equator makes it unique.

Support an indigenous community

You’ll be leaving in a Quichua tribe, which started to work with tourists some years ago. You could work on some community projects and help them in their daily tasks such as agriculture, fishing, and construction.

The Tribe, located at the entrance of the Ecuadorian Amazon on the way to Macas, is only a 40-minutes drive from Puyo. You will help the community members survive in their Amazon environment and fight against the Oil Companies and against Illegal Deforestation of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Taking part in this project by helping them in community projects, educating their children and doing maintenance of the facilities will increase their life level and avoid exile to the city. Learn about traditional medicine

The community has a medicinal garden, where you could learn about the shamanic plants they use in their traditional medicine. You could also take part in some special ceremonies such as the ayahuasca ceremony and immerse yourself in their traditions.

The long and rich history of people using plants as medicine reaches back long before written history: fossil records show that medicinal plants were already used 60,000 years ago.

We ask you to pay a deposit of US$ 55 /person to book your space.

The minimum time in the project is 1 week.

You will pay the rest directly to Roberto, the person in charge of the volunteers in the tribe, the first day. It’s in US Dollar because in Ecuador it’s the official currency at the moment.
