Make Change Being Volunteer Ecuador when Travelling
I will give you the best advice to Make Change Being Volunteer Ecuador when travelling and why you could do it with us and get more advantages than doing it with big volunteer agencies.
1. Check the Cost transparency.
EcuaSwiss Foundation is an Ecuador-based small organization with the only purpose to help local projects and communities. We won’t ask you thousands of dollars to apply or for a week-long of Volunteering in Ecuador. I remember two volunteers within the same project speaking to each other, and realizing that one had paid with a big agency $1250 for 2 weeks and our volunteer just paid $200. Generally, those big agencies will pay a maximum $50/week for the projects, while the rest goes to the administrative offices in Europe or USA. On the other hand, our foundation gives $75 per week to the projects (that you will be paying directly in there) to ensure the money will be going straightly to the ones that need it. We will ask you for a CHF 50 application fee to book your space, where the fees will be split as $25 to organize your arrival in the project with the organizer and for website maintenance. And the other $25 goes to our foundation to support all the projects that we are committed to helping (not all receive volunteers). Make Change Being Volunteer Ecuador with us.
2. Choose Sustainable projects.
Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America but has a lot to offer you, especially in traditional culture and natural biodiversity. With this, you have thousands of projects all around Ecuador that offer you the possibility to be a volunteer or to help them. We carefully selected only sustainable projects that make a REAL CHANGE IN ECUADOR, being this an Animal Rescue centre or Social projects in Quito. We go and visit each project once every 6 months to see the changes and the evolution, also to ensure that the money they receive is well invested in the communities or projects. And staying as sustainable as possible, following the rules we provided in order to receive volunteers. Make Change Being Volunteer Ecuador.
3. Why do I need to pay to volunteer?
Maybe you have thought about this: I’m going to help the projects/communities, so why do I have to pay? Actually, you have 2 kinds of volunteer work projects. You have projects to work abroad, and they offer you lodging and food for your work, usually, it’s a normal 5/7 with 8h./day work, and they don’t have to pay any additional employees. So it is normal if they don’t ask you to pay, as it’s an exchange. Our projects, however, are different from this. As an example, the child care in Quito is a social association that takes care of young people while their mothers have to work, so our communities will receive you to help them directly with the Childcare. As in the wildlife or conservation programs, there are foundations or associations to save the environment, and you will help them in their achievement. So, the cost will mostly be for your own lodging and participation in the maintenance of their installations, some programs are a little more expensive (as in Quito) since they will be including 3 or 2 meals a day. But as in our own experience, we think some people would prefer to cook for themselves if they have a special diet, it’s why most of our programs have their own kitchen. 4. Travel on a tight budget to South America.
When I was introducing this post I spoke about travelling on a small budget. being a Volunteer in Ecuador could help you since we have projects in the 4 regions of this amazing country, Volunteer in the Galapagos Islands, Volunteer in the Amazon, Volunteer in the Andes, Volunteer in the Coast. Normally the price for accommodation in a hostel dorm in Ecuador is between $10 to $15 and if you make it for a week it will be around $70 to $105. Now, what could you expect to learn from living in a hostel dorm? Besides meeting more travellers and sharing with them, you won’t share enough with local people, and the true treasure of a trip is to get involved with locals. Our programs will cost you approximately the same, and you will also get to experience the real local life, eat like them, share their traditions, and you can even live with a Kichwa Tribe in the Amazon Rainforest. You can take care of some threatened animals in our Wildlife Reserve in Puyo or also help in a Coastline Conservation project in a Fisherman Community in the Coast. That’s the best way to improve your Spanish level and have the best tool to travel all around South America.
